Important Note: 

Fits the 2011-2014 Edge with a push-button start only.

Fits 2011-2015 Explorer or MKX with a push-button start only.

If you have to insert a key and turn it to start the vehicle this will not be the correct part. 

Your Shifter must be on the floor for this to be correct. 

Issue: Floor shift selector lever and push button start models may exhibit a Shift To Park message, Transmission Not In Park message displayed while the shifter is in park position, or unable to remove the integrated keyhead transmitter (IKT), or a discharged battery due to the Shift to Park light remaining illuminated.

Installation Instructions:

Tools Needed:

  • Socket Set
  • Torx bit set
  • Screwdriver
  • Pry tool

Skill Level: Intermediate

Installation Time: Approximately 1-2 hours

Note: Before starting the installation, ensure that the battery is disconnected to prevent accidental airbag deployment.

  1. Use a pry tool to carefully remove the center console trim covers to expose the shift park detent switch shifter assembly.
  2. Locate the wiring harness connector for the shift park detent switch shifter assembly and disconnect it by pressing down on the locking tab and pulling the connector away from the assembly.
  3. Use a socket set and Torx bit set to remove the bolts and screws securing the shift park detent switch shifter assembly to the center console.
  4. Carefully remove the old shift park detent switch shifter assembly from the center console.
  5. Install the new Genuine Ford shift park detent switch shifter assembly by aligning it with the mounting points on the center console and securing it with bolts and screws.
  6. Reconnect the wiring harness connector to the back of the new shift park detent switch shifter assembly.
  7. Reinstall the center console trim covers by snapping them back into place.

It is important to note that this installation requires intermediate-level skills and should not be attempted by individuals with limited automotive knowledge. The job can take approximately 1-2 hours to complete, depending on the installer's skill level and familiarity with the vehicle. Always make sure to reconnect the battery after completing the installation.
