  • Socket wrench set
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Rubber mallet
  • Fuel-resistant sealant

Time Needed: 1-2 hours

Steps:

  1. Locate the fuel pump assembly, which is usually located inside the fuel tank. To access the fuel pump assembly, you may need to remove the rear seat cushion and the fuel tank access panel.
  2. Use a socket wrench set to remove the bolts or screws that hold the fuel pump assembly in place.
  3. Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the fuel tank, being careful not to damage any of the fuel lines or electrical connections.
  4. Locate the fuel gauge sending unit level sensor float and use a flathead screwdriver to remove the retaining clip that holds it in place.
  5. Gently remove the old fuel gauge sending unit level sensor float from the fuel pump assembly.
  6. Install the new fuel gauge sending unit level sensor float onto the fuel pump assembly and secure it with the retaining clip.
  7. Carefully lower the fuel pump assembly back into the fuel tank and secure it with the bolts or screws that were removed earlier. Be sure to tighten the bolts or screws to the manufacturer's specifications.
  8. Reinstall the fuel tank access panel and the rear seat cushion.
  9. Turn on the ignition to check the fuel gauge and make sure it is reading accurately.
  10. Apply a small amount of fuel-resistant sealant to the fuel pump assembly gasket to prevent leaks.
