Once the panel is removed, you should be able to see the lock mechanism and the lock cable. Locate the end of the cable where it connects to the lock mechanism.

Use pliers to carefully disconnect the old lock cable from the lock mechanism. You may need to wiggle it back and forth a bit to release it.

Next, locate the other end of the lock cable, which is connected to the exterior door handle. Carefully remove the clip that holds the cable in place.

With both ends of the cable disconnected, you should be able to remove the old cable from the door.

Take the new genuine lock cable and thread it along the interior of the door, following the path of the old cable.

Connect the new cable to the lock mechanism and the exterior door handle, making sure the connections are secure.

Finally, replace the door panel by aligning it with the clips and pressing it firmly into place.

Test the new lock cable by locking and unlocking the door from the inside and outside.
That's it! Your new genuine rear door lock cable should now be installed and working properly on your Acura MDX.
