This is a brand new genuine OEM Ford 2.7 Engine Timing Camshaft Sprocket that fits the F-150, MKZ, Edge, and Fusion models. This part is not an aftermarket replacement and comes in the original manufacturer's packaging, ensuring that it is of the same high quality as the original part used in new vehicles.
This timing camshaft sprocket is an important component of the engine's timing system, which synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft to ensure that the engine's valves open and close at the right time. This helps to optimize the engine's performance and fuel efficiency while reducing emissions. The camshaft sprocket is responsible for transmitting power from the crankshaft to the camshaft, which controls the engine's valve timing.
To replace the timing camshaft sprocket, follow these step-by-step instructions:
- Disconnect the battery and remove any necessary components to access the timing cover.
- Remove the timing cover and rotate the engine to align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.
- Remove the timing chain tensioner and loosen the bolts securing the camshaft sprocket.
- Remove the old camshaft sprocket and replace it with the new one, making sure to align the timing marks on the sprocket and chain.
- Reinstall the timing chain tensioner and tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Reinstall the timing cover and any components that were removed.
- Reconnect the battery and start the engine to verify that the timing is correct.
This job typically takes several hours to complete and requires a moderate level of mechanical skill. The tools needed include a socket set, torque wrench, and timing chain tool.
