Installation Instructions:

Replacing the Front Brake Pad Kit on your 2010 Equinox or Terrain with the Genuine GM Kit (part number specific to your vehicle) is a moderately difficult job that requires some knowledge of automotive repair and the use of specialized tools.

Tools needed:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • C-clamp or brake caliper tool
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Brake cleaner
  • Anti-seize compound
  • Brake pad lubricant

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Begin by safely lifting the front of your vehicle with a jack and securing it with jack stands.
  2. Use a lug wrench to remove the wheel/tire assembly on the side where you will be replacing the brake pads.
  3. Locate the brake caliper and use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing it to the brake caliper bracket.
  4. Carefully remove the brake caliper from the bracket and suspend it from the suspension using a bungee cord or wire hanger. Do not let the caliper hang by the brake hose.
  5. Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston back into its bore. This will allow you to install the new brake pads.
  6. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket and discard them.
  7. Clean the caliper bracket and brake caliper thoroughly with brake cleaner.
  8. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound to the caliper bracket where the brake pads will make contact.
  9. Apply a thin layer of brake pad lubricant to the backs of the new brake pads.
  10. Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, making sure they are properly seated and secure.
  11. Carefully reattach the brake caliper to the caliper bracket and tighten the bolts to the torque specifications listed in your vehicle's owner's manual.
  12. Repeat steps 3-11 for the other side of the vehicle.
  13. Replace the wheel/tire assembly and tighten the lug nuts to the torque specifications listed in your vehicle's owner's manual.
  14. Lower the vehicle and test the brakes before driving.

It is important to follow the torque specifications and use the proper tools when performing this installation to ensure the safe and proper operation of your vehicle. If you have any questions or concerns, please refer to your vehicle's owner's manual or seek assistance from a qualified automotive technician.
