This part is not aftermarket. Its main function is to deploy the airbag in the steering wheel in the event of a collision. Installation Instructions:
The skill level required to replace this part is intermediate. The job can be completed in about 1 hour. The following tools are needed: a socket wrench set, a flathead screwdriver, and a torque wrench.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 10 minutes before beginning work.
- Locate the airbag module in the center of the steering wheel and remove the screws or bolts that secure it.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the airbag module and carefully remove the module from the steering wheel.
- Install the new airbag module and reconnect the wiring harness.
- Secure the new module in place with the screws or bolts that were removed earlier, using a torque wrench to ensure they are tightened to the proper specifications.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
