Important Note: Before beginning the installation process, make sure that the replacement part matches the one being replaced in terms of make, model, and specifications.
Tools Needed:
- Jack and jack stands (if needed)
- Socket wrench set
- Pliers
- Flathead screwdriver
Skill Level: Intermediate
Time Needed: 1-2 hours
Steps:
- If necessary, raise the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
- Locate the clutch release cylinder on the transmission bell housing.
- Use pliers to carefully remove the retaining clip that secures the clutch release cylinder push rod to the clutch fork.
- Use a socket wrench to remove the two bolts that secure the clutch release cylinder to the transmission bell housing.
- Carefully pull the clutch release cylinder away from the transmission bell housing and set it aside.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the old dust cover boot off of the clutch release cylinder.
- Take the new clutch release dust cover boot and carefully stretch it over the clutch release cylinder.
- Push the new dust cover boot onto the clutch release cylinder until it is fully seated.
- Reinstall the clutch release cylinder onto the transmission bell housing, making sure to align the push rod with the clutch fork.
- Secure the clutch release cylinder to the transmission bell housing with the two bolts removed earlier.
- Reinstall the retaining clip that secures the clutch release cylinder push rod to the clutch fork.
- Lower the vehicle (if necessary) and test the clutch pedal to ensure that it operates smoothly and that the dust cover boot is properly installed.
That's it! The installation process is now complete. Remember to dispose of any old parts and materials in an environmentally responsible manner.
