The 2011-2014 Ford F-150 was one of Fords most well built trucks, however there is a really annoying weakness in the Front and rear door wiring harnesses.
After a few years of flexing upon opening and closing, the wires began to break off at the terminal plug.
When these wires break it can cause issues such as:
This is not a complete list of issues. If you know of more let us know!
Luckily the Engineers at Ford wasted not time in making a new improved version of the harness. The new version of the harness is made much better, and is much more resistant to the wires becoming brittle and breaking at the terminals.
For you Techies out there, here is a wiring diagram that shows exactly how this harness interfaces with the BCM.
Luckily Replacement is easy, Most of our customers have the job don in about 10 minutes.
The new harness Contains all of the correct wires, pins, terminals and plugs, making replacement a plug and play snap!
After a few years the sensor and the wiring pigtail that connects to it become corroded. Once the corrosion reaches a certain level, contact is no longer established between the pigtail and the sensor causing your airbag light to come on.
The good news is the fix is very easy in the parts needed are not very expensive.
